Under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) electronic reporting regulation, covered employers were required to submit their OSHA Forms 300, 300A, and 301 using the agency’s electronic Injury Tracking Application (ITA) by March 2, 2025.
Employers must maintain accurate records of work-related injuries and illnesses. The online portal, launched in January 2024, allows employers to submit those reports electronically.
Who must submit electronic reports?
Here are the required forms, depending on the organization:
- Form 300A: Organizations with 250 or more employees, unless exempt due to industry classification (see Appendix A to Subpart B).
- Form 300A: Organizations with 20-249 employees in certain industries with historically high rates of occupational injuries and illnesses (see Appendix A to Subpart E).
- Forms 300A, 300, and 301: Organizations with 100 or more employees in regulated industries (see Appendix B to Subpart E).
Recordkeeping for exempt employers
Even if your organization is exempt from electronic reporting, you must still maintain records of serious work-related injuries and illnesses using OSHA Forms 300, 300A, and 301 (or equivalent forms).
If you’re unsure whether your company is required to comply, OSHA provides an “ITA Coverage Application” tool to determine your reporting obligations.
