Comment sought on bankruptcy rule changes

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Rhode Island is seeking comment on proposed amendments to local rules and forms relating to implementation of the Small Business Reorganization Act of 2019, which takes effect Feb. 19.

Copies of the proposed amendments are available at the clerk’s office and at rib.uscourts.gov.

Comments should be submitted by Feb. 13 to [email protected] or to Susan M. Thurston, Clerk, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, 380 Westminster St., 6th Floor, Providence, RI 02903.

The court is offering a free training session on Feb. 25, from 2 to 4:30 p.m., on the new subchapter V Bankruptcy Code provisions, as well as the district’s implementation plans including interim local rules and forms, new electronic filing events, local deadlines and procedures, U.S. trustee process, and attorney best practices and recommendations for handling cases filed under subchapter V of Chapter 11.

The session will be conducted in the Bankruptcy Courtroom, 6th Floor, Federal Center, 380 Westminster St., Providence, Rhode Island.
