New Associations

Martha Born has joined Biogen Idec, Inc. in Cambridge, Mass. as chief litigation counsel.

Mary Clare Decker has been named chief legal officer and director of human resources at Injured Workers Pharmacy in Methuen, Mass.

Martin C. Dunn has been appointed vice president in the contracts/legal department at TurboCare, Inc., headquartered in Chicopee, Mass. He will act as senior legal advisor for TurboCare, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Siemens.

Peter C. Erichsen recently rejoined Ropes & Gray in Boston. He began his career at the firm, and then served in high-level positions in the Clinton Administration. He was also vice president and general counsel of the University of Pennsylvania, and most recently was vice president and general counsel of the J. Paul Getty Trust. Erichsen will concentrate his practice on serving non-profit institutions, including colleges, universities, and research institutions. At the J. Paul Getty Trust, Erichsen provided legal and strategic advice beginning to the internationally renowned foundation, which has a $6.2 billion endowment and $250 million dollar operating budget. Erichsen served in the White House Counsel’s Office, where he coordinated judicial selection and the 1996-97 Cabinet transition, during which he managed a team of 12 attorneys.

Laurie A. Martinelli, former executive director of Health Law Advocates, has been named executive director of the national Alliance on Mental Illness in Woburn, Mass.

Christopher P. Sherman was recently named general counsel of the New England Power Generators Association, Inc. Sherman will be responsible for developing legislative and regulatory positions consistent with NEPGA’s energy policies. He will also advocate before governmental entities on behalf of NEPGA’s member companies. Prior to joining NEPGA, Sherman was manager-external affairs for Mirant Corp., where he served as a liaison with state and local governments and worked with industry trade groups on policy positions and regulatory involvement.

Craig J. Ziady recently joined Cummings Properties, LLC in Woburn, Mass. as deputy general counsel.
Promotions

Kristin Campbell was recently promoted to senior vice president and general counsel at Staples, Inc. based in Framingham, Mass. She will be responsible for managing the company’s legal group. Campbell has been at Staples for 13 years.
