The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has formed a task force to help small businesses comply with anti-discrimination laws.
The Small Business Task Force, headed by EEOC Commissioner Constance S. Barker, will develop ways to reach out to newly established small businesses and companies that are too small to afford lawyers or a human resources staff.
Some of the task force’s recommendations will include developing training initiatives for small businesses, identifying specialized approaches for micro-businesses with 50 or fewer employees, and expanding small business training on the EEOC’s website.
EEOC Chair Jacqueline A. Berrien said in a press release that the task force “demonstrates our commitment to strengthening the lines of communication with small business owners and educating them about their responsibilities, including the benefits of preventing and resolving discrimination claims.”
