The Northeast Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel started off the year with two great programs for our members.
The Jan. 24 seminar – entitled “Seismic Shift: Groundbreaking Changes in Patent Development, Licensing, and Protection – Key Concepts for Protecting Your Business in 2007” – was heavily attended and very well received by attendees, who appreciated the current updates and knowledgeable speakers. The program was sponsored by Choate, Hall & Stewart.
On Feb. 1, Greenberg Traurig sponsored “Staying Out of the Doghouse: Best Practices in Outside Counsel Management,” which was held in Providence, R.I. This program provided an interesting give-and-take with panelists and attendees on the ins and outs of outside counsel management.
The chapter certainly appreciates the sponsors for conducting such excellent programs.
On another note, we are proud to announce the following sponsors for 2007:
Platinum Level – Ropes and Gray.
Gold Level – Choate Hall & Stewart; Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge; Foley Hoag; Goodwin Procter; Goulston & Storrs; Greenberg Traurig; LeBoeuf Lamb; McDermott, Will & Emery; Mintz, Levin; and Nutter, McClennen & Fish.
Other initiatives for the year include our Law Student Ethics Award dinner on April 12, at which we will honor six local law students for their exemplary commitment to ethics in law, as well as our continuing mediation training in the Woburn and Dedham, Mass. District Courts.
With a large membership to serve, the chapter is constantly striving to improve the educational and networking opportunities for its members. We feel we are solidly moving forward in this regard, and we look forward to a busy and productive year.
