Fresh From Mass. Superior Court, King Joins ADR Firm

Patrick J. King, who recently stepped down from the Massachusetts Superior Court, has joined a nationwide ADR firm, JAMS.

King, 61, served 14 years on the Superior Court (1989-2003) and 12 on the Boston Housing Court (1977-1989). During his tenure on the bench, he mediated a broad range of cases involving multiple parties and subject areas, including commercial, employment and intellectual property, according to JAMS President and CEO Steve Price.

“Judge King’s talent for resolving complex legal disputes will benefit his clients at a time when we are seeing a heightened use of ADR in New England,” Price said.

Last year, King was recognized with the Judicial Excellence Award from the Frank J. Murray American Inn of Court. In 1997, the Massachusetts Judges Conference presented him the Judicial Excellence Award, and in 1992, the Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Boston Bar Association recognized him for his outstanding contributions to that project.

He has been involved in judicial reform activities with judges from the People’s Republic of China, Mongolia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Cuba and the Dominican Republic.

Prior to becoming a judge, King was a trial lawyer with Boston’s Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky & Popeo, as well as a public service attorney with the Boston Legal Assistance Project.

He is a 1967 graduate of Boston University School of Law, and a 1964 cum laude graduate of Northeastern University.
